Above the OXO2 are several floors of residential apartments, as well as Harvey Nicols bar and brasserie, whilst below are a host of boutique shops and galleries in the Coin Street complex.
OXO2 had previously tried to address the noise problems inherent to a mixed use building of this sort by installing a lead lined sound proof box. The box acted as a dance floor area during their most busy times of the year, however, prohibitive ongoing costs as well as aesthetic and other practical concerns led them to consider alternatives which better suited their clean and attractive riverside venue.
Working closely with acoustic consultants, the English Cogger Partnership, Direct Acoustic Solutions designed a soundproofing solution to be installed in conjunction with the zoneArray sound system, reducing both airborne and structure-borne transmission of sound. The directional acoustic technology of the zoneArray, combined with the soundproofing, has led to a dramatic improvement in noise pollution to the adjacent residential properties. The bespoke finishing of the zoneArray sound system fits seamlessly within the highly polished design of OXO2.
